Jay Lake lives in Portland, Oregon with his books and two inept cats, where he works on numerous writing and editing projects, including the World Fantasy Award-nominated _Polyphony_ anthology series from Wheatland Press. Current projects include _Rocket Science_ and _TEL : Stories_. His next novel, _Trial of Flowers_, will be available fall, 2006 from Night Shade Books, while _Mainspring_ will be released summer, 2007 from Tor. Jay is the winner of the 2004 John W. The university career has been replaced by a small software localization business, and the Black Forest by the parrots of Bad Cannstatt. She lives with her fantasy and her family and her books in a house with a turret and has sold stories to numerous markets, including Asimov's, Realms of Fantasy, Strange Horizons, Scifiction, Gardner Dozois's Year's Best Science Fiction, and the anthology Realms of Wonder. Her xenolinguistics novella "Looking Through Lace" made the short list for the Tiptree award in 2003 and was nominated for the Sturgeon award.
