I'm a writer and an artist, specializing
in science fiction, fantasy and horror. Life-wise I've always been a
maverick; insisting on personal freedom, stubbornly doing what I like
instead of 'the sensible thing' (boring!) and going wherever I please.
So far I've had the pleasure of wandering through twenty-two countries
spanning
North America, Europe, Africa and Asia. It's been Asia that has been my
home
for much of my adult life, I spent three years in Japan and have now
lived nearly eight here in Thailand. I currently have a fun gig as the
Art Director of Eric Flint's Grantville Gazette
magazine, dedicated to stories set in the alternate history 1632
series, which I sometimes write as well. I'm now doing
the things I dreamed of in my youth, things like writing and doing art
for sci-fi magazines, and am having way too much fun with it! My wild and woolly novelette Riders of the Three-Toed Horse published here in Jim Baen's Universe, made the 2009 Locus Magazine Recommended Reading List,
which
pleases the punch out of me. Now is a good time to thank Managing
Editor Paula Goodlett and Assistant Editor Sam Hidaka for all their
help and encouragement! These days I'm living in Bangkok, Thailand
with my very understanding wife Mochi, doing pretty much whatever I
want. Sometimes I remember to update my blog, which can be found
here.
