Paul Davies
I'm a UK based artist currently working freelance as a digital illustrator. I first started my foray into digital illustration in late 2004 when a friend of mine from university showed me some concept art by Ryan Chruch and Craig Mullins. I'd been working with traditional media for years and I was excited by all of the new possibilities offered by software. I now work entirely using Photoshop for a range of UK and overseas clients and I'm looking to move into the computer games industry as a concept artist.

John Ward
John Ward's early childhood was filled with what many people describe as 'horrible B-movies'. Every Saturday afternoon, John and his father would huddle on the couch to watch Godzilla battle his latest foe or to see how Flash Gordon (the '30s version) would escape Ming that week.
As John grew older, his interests expanded beyond the silver screen to the world of books. He found Sinbad in the yellowed pages of a beat-up paperback; later on, he discovered Tolkien, Heinlein, Asimov, and many others. These authors introduced John to the fantastic. They opened his mind to the great things that man can achieve and to worlds that can only be shared through imagination. As an artist, John seeks to share those same visions and ideals that first attracted him to the genre and continue to bring him back.
John has created covers and interior art for various fanzines, and a cover for Five Star Publishing.
John spends his days with his lovely wife at their home in Tennessee. He continues to refine his painting techniques and to build his portfolio all the while hoping for a big budget remake of the Sinbad movies.

Barb Jernigan
"Multi-faceted" is a nicer word than "dilletante," but Barb's 'gem-cutter' didn't know when to stop.
Her long-long-ago BFA in Studio Art (UCDavis '81) with an English Minor has gotten use -- most directly in her current incarnation as a Freelance Writer (mostly ghostwriting non-fiction articles) and Artist (graphic arts, illustration, set design....). She has also done stints in the PC QA world, including 'tours' at Olivetti, Ashton-Tate ("Anyone here remember Framework®?"), and Microsoft's Graphic Business Unit ("Do I need to take a bow or apologize for PowerPoint®?"). In her Boulder, Colorado years, Barb was the Art Director and Chief Copywriter and Coffee Carafe Washer for The Edutainment Catalog.
"Every few years you have to reinvent yourself, or get stale," Barb says, adding: "That's my story, and I'm sticking to it."
Barb's short story, The Rocking Horse Christmas, appeared in DAW's A Christmas Bestiary (ed. Rosalind and Martin Greenberg, 1992), and current illustrations can be seen here in Jim Baen's Universe, as well as in the small press magazine Grasslimb, the "art-run" cover of In the Arms of Words: Poems for Tsunami Relief (FootHills Publishing, 2005), and on the set of the current show at The Georgetown Palace theater.

Jennifer Miller

Jennifer Miller's artistic history started around the age of five, a crayon in one hand and her eye's glued on the children's movie "Flight of Dragons". Since then she has gotten a good bit taller, and has acquired a great deal more crayons. Raised in the foothills of western NY State, she spent most of her childhood roaming around the woods, playing with birds and lizards, and doing her best to draw them. She is immensely interested in the natural world around her and draws great inspiration from it. Currently, she lives on the east coast with her fiancé, three parrots, and a myriad of tropical fish. She still takes time to roam the woods whenever possible. The tools of the trade can be practically anything… from watercolors to oils, inks, graphite, acrylic; she even paints on bird feathers. She also enjoys working in a digital format and approaches the digital canvas as she would a real one, with simple painting fundamentals and minimal to no computer rendering. Lighting and atmosphere are her favorite parts of painting, with a particular emphasis on lighting. She has a particular fascination with flight and flighted creatures, and they are a reoccurring theme in her pieces. More of Jennifer's work can be seen at: http://featherdust.critter.net

David Maier
David lives in Sandy Hook, CT, with his lovely wife and a son, a dog called Indiana and Braveheart the turtle. Drawing and painting are to David what breathing is to rest of us: necessary and natural, and something he’s always done. David has had a varied career: a submariner, a submarine shipbuilder, a chef at a French restaurant, a professional actor in an itinerant theatre company. David is a long-time fan of Frank Frazetta’s work, and learned much of his craft imitating Frazetta’s work. He paints everything - from motorcycles to toolboxes, t-shirts to leather jackets. He also thinks Terry Pratchett is totally underappreciated, and if given a choice between sex and dark chocolate might lose his mind trying to decide.

Chantelle Thorne
Chantelle Thorne was born and raised in Durban, Kwa-Zulu Natal, South Africa. She studied graphic design and went on to become a Creative Director in a local ad agency – an extemely varied and exciting part of her career. She worked with a very dymnamic team creating marketing strategies and designs for many big brands. In 1999 she left the ad-world and started illustrating. Her first commission was a book of 200 black & white illustrations - a task both daunting and encouraging as a starter! Since then she has illustrated over 300 books for both local and international publishers (UK & USA) ranging from educational textbooks to children’s books. In 2005, she became a published author, having two books both written & illustrated by her published in South Africa. She now works from a home-based office in the beautiful KZN Midlands, surrounded by a motley menagerie of animals. Stories are her passion and she feels that illustrating them is better than eating chocolates (and far less fattening!). She thinks that getting paid to do something she loves to do is a very cool way to make a living. You can contact Chantelle Thorne at furballs@vodamail.co.za

By working with a number of his own models, Dan Skinner's unique blend of photography, vibrant colors, and photo manipulation skills, has made Cerberus Inc. one of the most sought after cover art providers among authors and publishers of all genres. Nick's versatility as a model also makes him one of the most recognizable faces in electronic publishing. Alex Uphoff
Alex was born and raised in Texas. He attended the University of Texas pursuing an Aerospace engineering degree and is still finishing his degree. He has enjoyed a lifelong love of art. Most of the work he do for himself is anime/manga style, and he has been writing a comic off and on. For the most part, he has been refining his style by drawing individual pictures of his characters but has drawn some twenty-odd pages of the comic itself. The pages of the comic he's been drawing were spaced over such a long time that early pages are scarcely identifiable as being by the same artist as later pages. Recently, he's started storyboarding what could be called a complete "issue" but hasn't been able to devote a significant amount of time to it yet. He has really enjoyed stretching his capabilities with the illustration he did for the Universe. Soon, he intends to complete his aerospace degree and enter into his professional career, but recent commissions have dared him to hope that he may be able to make it as an artist. Regardless of what he ends up doing for a living, art will always be a significant part of his life.

Kelley Hensing
Kelley is a graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design, with a bfa in illustration. She adored RISD, and it served as a place of mental and inspirational freedom. She is a strong believer that art is not an isolated subject, and the most meaningful work draws from many different sources of knowledge. A person who is well rounded makes for the most successful artist. Or at least for the more interesting. Before RISD she spent three previous years at the University of Cincinnati, in the graphic design program at DAAP. Though this did not quite satisfy her key artistic needs, it did teach her many 'practical' skills that would later be quite beneficial. (As she puts it with a smile, the ones that make artists run away with their arms flailing, like marketing and writing html code.) She also spent six months at a co-op for Hasbro Toy Group, and had the fun of watching nerf wars in the cubicle isles and to display her toy collection at her desk. She also learned a lot from a group of impressive people. More than anything else, the pursuit of art grants Kelley a language for the secret places within her spirit. Her favorite topics to draw upon come from mythologies, fairytales, music, and the occasional nightmare. Though she enjoys discussing the many guises of the art world, she would tell you it is more important for the work itself to evoke impressions that are not held fixed by the boundaries of words. online art gallery- wickiearts.com email- kelley@wickiearts.com
Laura Givens
Born last century, she will probably croak this century. Originally from Holland, Michigan, she escaped to San Francisco for a decade where she sold funnybooks to the stars.
Jennifer Miller
Jennifer Miller's artistic history started around the age of five, a crayon in one hand and her eye's glued on the children's movie "Flight of Dragons". Since then she has gotten a good bit taller, and has acquired a great deal more crayons.

Charles Bernard
Charles Bernard SF/Fantasy book cover and magazine illustrator was born in Giessen West Germany. I went to The Fine Art Academy of Hadamar Germany and after a few months there I became disillusioned with the way art was being taught. I felt I wasn’t learning what I needed to know to become an artist. I came to the United States and got a job working for Famous Artists Schools in Westport Conn. At this school I was fortunate enough to meet many of the guiding faculty that included such great illustrators as Norman Rockwell, Albert Dorne, and Al Parker to name only a few. I decided to take the art course they offered and after seeing what was being taught I knew that this was what I had been looking for. I became very interested in science fiction and fantasy illustration which I think came about because of my interest in science and seeing the work of some of the great science fiction and fantasy illustrators. After many years of studying art and painting my work progressively became better and better until I reached a point when I finally started getting book cover and magazine story illustration assignments from Publishers such asWildside Press, The Easton Press, Five Star, Black Library, Analog Science Fiction and Fact Magazine to name a few. The publishers thought enough of my work that they started giving me stories to Illustrate by some of the biggest names in SF/Fantasy like Anne McCaffrey, Roberta Gellis, and Greg Bear for example. Although I have done book covers for many publishers I have yet to receive an assignment from a major publisher which is my goal. I am hoping that some day maybe Baen Books will be the first major publisher that will give me a book cover assignment to do.
See Charles' portfolio at http://www.onlineartacademy.com/portfolio/scifithumbnails.html.
Adam Burch

Paul Campbell
During his youth, Paul Campbell displayed his talents by winning numerous contests and shows becoming a regular with the local media.
After graduating high school he attended The Art Institute of Pittsburgh, graduating with honors at the top of his class. His work was displayed on a regular basis on campus and numerous pieces are still used as examples by his instructors today. Working through school, he commissioned sales of his larger works to office complexes such as CNG Towers in downtown Pittsburgh.
Working several design positions he settled as an art director for a newspaper, eventually leading to founding and managing a publishing company of his own. His offices spanned the third floor of a National City Bank where he produced 3 separate monthly tabloid publications. For the five years he published, his magazines boasted advertisers such as: Cedar Point, Six Flags, Sea World, Geauga Lake, Cleveland – Pittsburgh – Akron Zoos to name a few. While publishing, he interviewed such stars as Alice Cooper. These publications achieved a readership of over 50,000 readers on a regular basis and spanned four states.
Paul Campbell has archived countless writing credits in his career including a book titled “Inside the Insane” released September 1, 2006. A collection of 29 short horror stories, it sells at select Borders Bookstores and Amazon.com. He’s currently contemplating his first full length novel while also experimenting with audio.
With over 25 years experience, his current artwork can be found in several markets including but not limited to: e-zines, magazines and books. Working in oils, his work stands out and has made an impact against the digital work which mostly dominates the markets today.
